Is the Derian House Great Big House Giveaway a lottery?

No. The Great Big House Giveaway is operated as a “free draw” with a paid entry route as defined by the Gambling Commission.

The Great Big House Giveaway offers players the ability to purchase tickets online or alternatively players can enter by post with no cost per entry.

Where does my ticket money go?

Your entry fee to the Great Big House Giveaway supports the work of Derian House Children’s Hospice in caring for children with life limiting and life-threatening conditions and supporting their families through the most difficult of times.

100% of income generated, less reasonable marketing and administration costs, will be received by Derian’s House Children’s Hospice for the ongoing care of our children, young people and families.

How will you contact me if I’ve won the house?

We will notify the winner by email or telephone (using the details provided at entry) promptly and in any event within seven days of the draw. If the winner does not respond to us within 14 of days of us notifying them then they will forfeit the prize and we will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process set out above. The winner will receive the prize once the appropriate legal process to transfer it to the winner has been completed.

How are winners drawn?

A winner will be chosen using a random number generator by an independent party. This will be overseen by an independent witness. Our decision regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and we will not enter into any correspondence about it.

What are my chances of winning?

All entries into The Great Big House Giveaway prize draw have an equal chance of winning.

Will someone definitely win the house?

Yes, the house will definitely be given away to one lucky winner at the end of the prize draw.

Who can I contact about the Great Big House Giveaway?

How old do you have to be to enter?

The Great Big House Giveaway Prize Draw is only open to individuals aged 18 or older at time of entry.

Are overseas entries allowed?

You must be a legal resident of the United Kingdom to enter.

Who is not eligible to enter?

The following individuals are explicitly excluded from eligibility to participate in the Great Big House Giveaway Prize Draw. Note that in this section “immediate families” means spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses regardless of where they reside.

  • Any employees or trustees of Derian House Children’s Hospice and their immediate families at the time of entry.
  • Any employees or directors of Kingswood Homes (UK) Limited and their immediate families at the time of entry.
  • Any employees or directors of Sterling Management Centre Limited or their immediate families.

Any individual who, in our reasonable opinion is likely to bring Derian’s House Children’s Hospice into disrepute by becoming a winner of the Great Big House Giveaway Prize Draw .

Who can I contact if I want to make a complaint?

All complaints should be directed to GBHG@derianhouse.co.uk or GBHG Prize Draw, Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chancery Road, Astley Village, CHORLEY, PR7 1DH.

Complaints will be dealt with following Sterling Management Centre Limited’s complaints policy.

The House

When will the house be ready?

Kingswood Homes (UK) Limited intend the house to be ready by the end of 2022.

Is the house furnished?

The house will not be furnished but will come with a ten-year NHBC warranty.

Will I have to pay Stamp Duty and legal fees?

The prize includes the cost of Stamp Duty land tax, land registry fees and reasonable conveyancing fees.

Is there a cash alternative?

The prize for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is available.

Can I sell the house if I don’t want to move in?

Yes.

What is Derian House Children’s Hospice?

Derian House Children’s Hospice is a charity based in Chorley, Lancashire. It looks after 400 seriously ill babies, children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, helping them to make happy memories in the time they have.

The charity has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and won JustGiving Charity of the Year in 2019.

How much of my ticket sale goes to the charity?

100% of income generated, less reasonable marketing and administration costs, will be received by Derian’s House Children’s Hospice for the ongoing care of our children, young people and families.

What is the fundraising target?

Derian House Children’s Hospice aims to raise at least £250,000 from the Great Big House Giveaway – the cost of buying the house.
